If you’re serious about marketing your home For Sale By Owner (FSBO), just know on the front end that it will take a significant investment of your time and resources to unearth a buyer—especially in a difficult market.  No one will buy your home if they don’t know it exists.  You need to do more than just a sign in the yard and a classified ad in the newspaper, such as advertising the house on a high-traffic website.  This is one area where real estate professionals really earn their money – a good Realtor can expose your home to thousands more potential buyers than the typical FSBO.  That may be one reason why FSBO properties, on average, take twice as long to sell and bring in 15-20 percent less than similar homes listed with an agent.
